Today’s Encouragement is Colossians 1:18a NLT Christ is also the head of the church, which is his body.
His Body –
‘Jesus is head of…’ He’s in charge, the leader, founder, designer, and the eternal power of… The head is the dwelling place for the mind, thoughts, wisdom, direction and guidance.
‘the church…’ We believers individually, and also as a group, are his church. It’s not a building, a denomination, nor a doctrine, but a living organism, like a person, comprised of every single believer in Jesus… this is the only requirement for being His church.
‘which is His body…’ Because He ascended and is now at God’s right hand, we are His physical presence on the earth. We are His body…
Now, the body is what does things. It acts in accordance with, obeys, and interacts with, the physical world… as it is directed by the head, the mind. The head leads the body.
Romans 8:6b NLT “But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.”
Our lives as believers in Christ, our actions, words, and deeds are to be directed by Jesus. So, our minds must also be surrendered to Him. We choose to “let the Spirit” control our minds.
Nothing else will do. We can choose this, His way, at any time, no matter how many times we may have tried and failed… God is not impatient with us.
Father God, we recognize our need for You, through Your Spirit, to control our minds and therefore our lives. Please bring this to reality within each one of us, and in Your church also.
