Today’s Encouragement is Matthew 19:29 NLT And everyone who has given up houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or property, for my sake, will receive a hundred times as much in return and will inherit eternal life.
For My Sake –
We often lose, give up, surrender, let go of things – relationships, positions… for various reasons. But Jesus told us that when we “give up” anything For His Sake… it will be restored 100 times!
Now, notice the examples of the things we may have to give up that He uses…
Houses, property… sure we get that… but then it gets real! Family? Parents, siblings, or children? We say in self-righteous indignation, “Never! I will never allow ‘anything’ to come between me and my family!”
Well, we just missed His point. It’s hard for our minds to conceive of this, but it’s clear in Jesus’ words in several passages… Our relationship with Him far outweighs everything, even our family relationships… And we give up these precious things… For His Sake!
He comes First in everything, especially in our hearts. Our love for our things… including Family… comes after our highest place of honor for Jesus. And friend, nothing else comes close!
And remember He has promised us 100 times more! We don’t know if this comes in this life or the next! But we do know that His promises will be fulfilled! Anything we give up for His Sake… will be restored 100 times over!
Thank You Father for making clear to us the importance, the supremacy of Jesus for our lives. Help us to surrender everything, even family, possessions, comfort… everything for Jesus’ Sake. Nothing Else Comes Close to You!
