Today’s Encouragement is Colossians 1:15 NLT Christ is the visible image of the invisible God.
The Visible Image –
This begins a powerful description of Jesus in verses 15-20. God revealed Himself to humanity by becoming human in Jesus the Christ.
God wanted us to know Him, His character, His personality, His nature, how He thinks, how He relates to others, and also, how we are to live…
The primary purpose of Jesus’ life was our reconciliation with God… to make us righteous, (right with God). This was forever and perfectly accomplished through His death, burial, and resurrection for all who believe in Him.
And in addition, God revealed Himself to us. Jesus was given the beautiful name, Immanuel, which means God with us.
So, we might sometimes ask, mistakenly, what is God like? No need to know more than Jesus. He was, still is, and always will be… the Image of the invisible God.
That which cannot be understood became understandable… He who is invisible became visible…
Why? To restore us to a right, and perfect, relationship with Him and to allow us to understand Him. John 14:9 NLT “Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father!”
Now, consider… Did Jesus punish? Did He cause pain or suffering? Did He condemn them for their sin? Did He shake His finger, express disgust, separate himself from the least important? Or did He get disgusted with, become ashamed of, give up on… anyone? No! He loved, He saved, He healed, He forgave!
And He is the Image of the Invisible God!
Father, thank You for Jesus!
Thank You for revealing Yourself to us! Thank You for loving us.
Jesus Son of God
