Today’s Encouragement is Ephesians 6:8 NLT Remember that the Lord will reward each one of us for the good we do, whether we are slaves or free.
The Lord Will Reward –
Seems pretty clear, doesn’t it? The good we do, in whatever form, whether we do it freely or are paid in some way… because we are His people… the Good that we do… we will be rewarded.
Jesus talked specifically about reward for giving, praying, and fasting in secret in Matthew 6 ending each topic with, “And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.”
And in Matthew 19:21b he said, “give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.”
Of course, we want our rewards now, but because we are eternal beings, God may choose to reward us in this life or the next… but He will reward us. And the rewards of this life are not even worth comparing to – those of eternity!
What is clear, is that God sees, even what we do secretly for Him and for others… and He Rewards!
One last thought… we deserve death as the Just and Holy “reward” for our sins… but this “reward” has already been satisfied by our Savior Jesus. We are eternally cleansed from our sins; and we shall be eternally rewarded for “the good we do!”
Father, Your justice is beyond our understanding, so kind and loving and still wise and pure. You accept Jesus’ sacrifice for our sin, yet still reward us for the good we do. You are more than wonderful to us!
