Today’s Encouragement is Romans 8:9 NLT But you are not controlled by your sinful nature. You are controlled by the Spirit if you have the Spirit of God living in you. (And remember that those who do not have the Spirit of Christ living in them do not belong to him at all.)
Controlled by the Spirit –
We are in a relationship with God, as His adopted sons and daughters. He created us for this relationship, it was His idea!
Now my friend, we can either have a good, growing, and vibrant relationship… or we can have only a weak, ineffective, and fragile relationship with Him. God is the Same either way… unaffected by our faithfulness or our unfaithfulness. Yet we choose to nurture, to grow, to develop our relationship with Him or to ignore it.
How to nurture? Time. Attention. Focus. Just as any human relationship requires effort, so does our relationship with God.
And as the relationship grows stronger and deeper so does our ability to communicate, to hear, and understand and then to be “Controlled by His Spirit.” Sadly, when we choose to ignore and starve this relationship, it grows weak. All we need to do is to turn to Him. He longs to have a healthy, deepening relationship with us!
God’s Spirit doesn’t change, doesn’t weaken, but our relationship, our ability to hear, to sense, to see His Presence grows so weak that doubt, which is of the sinful nature, can begin to rule our minds…
We either grow stronger or weaker in our relationship with God. We choose.
Thank You Father God, that you created us for this relationship with You. Help us to turn to You, to listen to You, to spend time with You, that our relationship may grow and we will become controlled by Your Holy Spirit.
