Today’s Encouragement is Psalm 19:12-13 NLT How can I know all the sins lurking in my heart? Cleanse me from these hidden faults. Keep your servant from deliberate sins! Don’t let them control me. Then I will be free of guilt and innocent of great sin.
Keep Me From –
After recounting the greatness of the Lord’s laws, rules, and wisdom, David asks God for help in resisting temptation to sin. He recognized the Perfection of God, and in comparison, his own imperfections. And asked God for cleansing…
Cleanse me from… even my hidden, unrecognized, unacknowledged, sins.. and also help me to choose not to engage in willful, intentional sin.
We know we have our part in resisting sin, (James 4:7) but we can also ask God to help us in this area.
And even when we fail… He is faithful and just to forgive and cleanse us (1 John 1:9).
Do you see how He can and will “keep us from sin”?
Consider Matthew 14:30-31a (NLT) ‘But when he saw the strong wind and the waves, he was terrified and began to sink. ‘Save me, Lord!’ he shouted. Jesus immediately reached out and grabbed him.’ Peter didn’t deserve to be saved, but he shouted, terrified, desperate, helpless… he shouted, “Save me Lord!” and Jesus immediately did!
My friend, when you are facing willful sin, remember this example. And shout… ‘Save Me Lord Jesus!” – and immediately – He will!
Thank You Jesus for saving us when we cry out to You. We trust You above all else. You alone can save us.
You Alone Can Rescue
