Today’s Encouragement is 2 Corinthians 4:17-18 NLT For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! So, we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.
Our Present Troubles –
Most of the time, this is all we can see, think about or acknowledge… our present troubles. Yet, the Truth of God’s Word says, these “are small and won’t last very long” But we say, “That’s not how it feels right now!”
Our feelings are loud, demanding and even oppressive, but they are not always reality.
Have you ever had the experience of misunderstanding someone? You thought they said something that was offensive or hurtful to you and you began to feel resentment and anger toward them, only to find out later you were wrong about your understanding and your feelings had ‘betrayed’ you.
Feelings are not trustworthy. And the painful experiences of the present situation do not control your future!
Everything we now experience – will pass away! The joys and the pain. All is small and “won’t last very long!”
Imagine eternity. Place a dot on the middle of a large wall. If the entire wall represented eternity, your entire lifetime (on this earth) and all your troubles, problems, and worries are infinitely smaller than that dot.
Thank You Father God, for giving us some limited ability to consider our life from Your Eternal perspective.
