Sounds Foolish

Today’s Encouragement is 1 Corinthians 2:14 NLT But people who aren’t spiritual can’t receive these truths from God’s Spirit. It all sounds foolish to them and they can’t understand it, for only those who are spiritual can understand what the Spirit means.

Sounds Foolish –

To those who don’t believe, everything we believe sounds foolish! Jesus came to earth, fully God and fully man, born of a virgin. Healed the sick, gave sight to the blind, raised the dead, preached the Love of God, Forgiveness, Judgment, Repentance, Grace… died willingly a horrific death, then rose from the dead 3 days later… and He is coming back…  It all sounds foolish to them. 

But “those who are spiritual can understand.” We know, we believe, that we are loved, forgiven, accepted, adopted by God as His own, because of our faith in Jesus as God’s Son, and as our Lord.  Yet, this is foolishness to the world.  The greatest truth of all time… is (tragically) mere foolishness to them. 

“So don’t be surprised, dear brothers and sisters, if the world hates you.” 1 John 3:13 NLT

Choosing faith in Jesus is turning our back on the ‘ways of the world’.  We live differently, think differently, and see everything differently.  We are reborn through faith in Jesus!

Father God, thank You for the gift of Faith, that You have called us, and that we have accepted Your call, and now, by Your Spirit, we believe in Jesus.  Help us to remember, and to rest in the truth that we are set apart for you, that this world is not our home, that we are Your chosen people.
