Today’s Encouragement is 1 Corinthians 12:31b NLT But now let me show you a way of life that is best of all.
Best of All –
This sentence introduces the 13th chapter, often called the “Love chapter.” You can probably quote some of it, like v4, “Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud” … and the chapter ends with, and is summarized by, v 13, “Three things will last forever-faith, hope, and love-and the greatest of these is love.”
This – ‘best way of life’ (v12:31), is also the “greatest thing”, v 13:13… Love.
This is the nature, the heart, the attitude of our Father God. 1 John 4:16a NLT “We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love. God is love.”
My friend this isn’t about “How to Be a Good Person” the Bible is filled with the records of the lives of people who were NOT inherently good, and it exposes the lie that we can ever be “good enough!” But rather, God, who IS LOVE, has provided Jesus for us, and our faith in Him – is the only way for God’s Love to reach us.
And when we do trust Him, God’s Love fills us! 1 John 4:19 NLT “We love each other because he loved us first.” God’s Love first fills us and then overflows to those around us.
Father God, thank You for Loving us. You saved us through faith in Christ, and You adopted us as Your own children, and You Love us…. What more could we ask? Help us to first accept, and then to share Your Love with those around us. They need Your Love too.
