Today’s Encouragement is John 12:46 NLT I have come as a light to shine in this dark world, so that all who put their trust in me will no longer remain in the dark.
As A Light –
Consider Jeremiah 20: 7-18, He pours out an extended, bitter, even miserable complaint to God… and in the middle of His complaint… he inserts ‘a light’…
v13 “Sing to the LORD! Praise the LORD! For though I was poor and needy, he rescued me from my oppressors.”
Centuries later, Paul and Silas were in prison, they had just been severely beaten, and now are wearing chains. Acts 16:25 ESV “About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them.”
In the midst of the darkness, when we are suffering, when pain is overwhelming, when our enemies of all types seem gathered against us…
This is the time to Praise God!
In these and other biblical examples, we see those who are suffering turn to God In praise, singing and proclaiming their hope and trust in Him, even as Jeremiah states in faith, for he is still in His suffering as he wrote, “for He rescued me!”
Of course, anytime is the right time to Praise Him, to Thank Him for Who He is, What He has done, and What He will do… but especially my friend, when we are hurting… this is the time to affirm our Faith, Hope, and Trust in God’s Mercy and Love for us.
Father God, help us to bring Your light into the darkness, even our own darkness. To turn to You in praise, especially when we are hurting. Because we believe, we trust, that Your Light will shine, You will rescue and deliver us!
