Today’s Encouragement is Psalm 34:19 ESV Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him out of them all.
The Lord Delivers –
Not ‘might’, not ‘sometimes’, not ‘under certain conditions…’
But – The Lord delivers… out of them – all.
First, we are told that, even the righteous, those who are trying to live God’s way, living good lives, loving others, and in right relationship with God… even these will have many afflictions. Many?
We often are shocked to discover that we are experiencing some kind of trouble, a difficulty, an affliction of some type. We analyze, and ask ourselves: “How did this happen, What did I do to deserve this? Why do bad things happen to good people?”
My friend, this life we live is in a fallen world. We will eventually die. Animals die, plants die, and one day this planet will die too! Illness, accidents, and aging are all inevitable aspects of life. We experience these realities as surely as we experience beauty, joy, happiness, peace and love.
And God doesn’t deny this reality, rather He acknowledges it, and reassures those of us who make Him our refuge, all who trust Him for deliverance, that He will care for us!
The biblical history is filled with the lives of people who experienced great trials and turned to Him for His deliverance… and saw it!
His Word is true, His promises are sure. He will deliver His people! This is who He is.
Psalm 91:14a NIV “Because he loves me, says the LORD, I will rescue him.”
Father, in the midst of our pain, struggle, and doubt… help us to continue to look to You for deliverance, in whatever form You choose. Because You Love us, we Trust You to Deliver us.
