Today’s Encouragement is Acts 14:15 NLT Friends, why are you doing this? We are merely human beings-just like you! We have come to bring you the Good News that you should turn from these worthless things and turn to the living God, who made heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them.
Just Like You –
Paul and Barnabas were preaching the Good News of Jesus at Lystra and healed a man crippled from birth (v8).
The people of Lyrstra thought these men must be gods! But they were quick to point out an essential Truth… “We are merely human beings- just like you!”
Friends- this is true of every single person in the Bible, except Jesus who was both fully human and fully God. The disciples and apostles and prophets and martyrs…
All these were merely human beings- just like us.
We are often too quick to disqualify, distinguish ourselves from the position we have in Christ. “I’m only human,” we say, especially as we yield to sin.
It’s partially true of course, that we’re only human, yet we, like Paul and Barnabas in this passage… are also filled with the spirit of God!
It may not be preaching, nor healing, but my friend… the same Spirit, the same power that raised Jesus from the dead… lives in us!
Father, please help us to come to understand, reveal to us, the Truth of Christ in us, Your Holy Spirit within us, who are otherwise – merely human beings.
