Today’s Encouragement is Matthew 5:13-14 NLT “You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it salty again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless. You are the light of the world – like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.”
We are Salt and Light –
(continuing – Who I Am in Christ)
Jesus said “You Are…” not, “Try really hard to be…” Not “If you’re really a good person then you will be…” Nope! He said we are… and he always tells the Truth!
Now, we know that Salt provides seasoning, improves taste, makes our food more palatable and also serves to preserve. In ancient times it was so valuable that it was used as money. Similarly, we cannot live without light! Light guides us, makes the pathway clear, alerts us to dangers, and sunlight even provides vitamin D to keep us healthy!
And these are characteristics of you and me, the people of God. We enhance life on this earth. We make it better; we even help to preserve life! Because we are His own people, we make this world a better place! 2 Corinthians 2:14b NLT Now he uses us to spread the knowledge of Christ everywhere, like a sweet perfume.
His Love flows through us, His chosen people, to others! And my Friend, “Others” includes:

Father, we long to represent You in the best way, as Salt and Light in this tasteless and darkened world. Help us to accept this truth, and to be ready and willing to do so.
