Today’s Encouragement is 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 NLT All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.
He Comforts Us –
God is the “Source of all comfort” – We look to many things for comfort, most of which are short-lived, or destructive. But for every person… not only believers, God alone is The Source of All Comfort! Nothing else compares!
“He Comforts Us” – He does the comforting, the soothing, He gives peace, healing, assurance, promises, blessings…all from Himself!
“In all our troubles“ – His comfort is unlimited. Remember, Jesus said you will have trouble” (John 16:33). And all the troubles, worries, fears, stresses, emotions, thoughts, physical pain, disappointment, brokenness… all the troubles we have or may ever experience… All!… He. Comforts. Us.
And why?
Because He Loves us.
And He is Merciful.
And … So that we can comfort others… with this same comfort we have received from God.
Do you see God’s beautiful plan here? He gives comfort to His people, in any and all kinds of trouble, so that they can share His comfort with others… Just as He gives us His love so that we can share His Love with others. And certainly – comforting others with God’s comfort… is sharing God’s Love.
Father of all comfort, help us to seek comfort from You alone, and to then share Your comfort with those around us. You are the source of all we need.
