Today’s Encouragement is John 14:27 ESV Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
Not as the world gives –
How is it that the world gives? What does Jesus mean?
Is it possible that the world gives with conditions… based on what we deserve, what we’ve earned? And the world gives with expectations, to get something in return, to see us use what we’ve been given in a certain way. Is this what He means?
My Friend, that’s not how Jesus gives! And the Peace which Jesus gives us is beyond our understanding (Philippians 4:7), it is freely given, without expectations, or limits, and without any regard to our earning or deserving it.
It’s a True Gift… one which only He can give, and it is given, unlike the world gives, as only God can!
Father God, this world can’t truly give us anything good… every good gift comes from You alone (James 1:17). We need Your Peace, True Peace, and although we may not understand it, we will accept this gift of Peace – by faith – in Your unfailing Love for us.
