Today’s Encouragement is John 15:5b NLT “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit.”
Produce much fruit-
We all want our lives to count, and to be meaningful to ourselves and to others. This is what is meant by “producing fruit.”
Years ago, my wife and I attended the funeral of a guy we’d known for many years. He had burned every bridge in his life… and we were the only people to attend his funeral. It was a terrible lesson to me, but powerful.
If I desire to live a meaningful life, It can only happen if I remain in Christ and He remains in me, so that I can bear much fruit.
The guy who died with no one but us didn’t bear any fruit except the bitter kind, a life lived for himself alone. In his last days, he did accept Christ, like the thief on the cross, and I’m confident he is now at peace with God, yet in this life, he lost the incredible opportunity that you and I still have… to Remain In Christ Jesus and “produce much fruit!”
Notice that this is a natural result. The branch must produce fruit, good fruit because it is ‘in the vine’. We will naturally, not because of our hard work and sincere efforts, but out of the fullness of God’s presence… produce much fruit. God does this in us.
Father, help us this day to remain in You, to be fully aware of Your Presence within us and about us, surrounding and protecting us, your dearly loved people so that we “produce much fruit” for You and for You alone.
Only Jesus
