I Am the Vine –
In his small but powerful book, Secrets of the Vine, Bruce Wilkinson provides an in-depth perspective on this amazing analogy that Jesus taught his disciples in His final message (John 14-17). This short book reveals great meaning and insight into this comparison of our relationship with God, His Son, and the Holy Spirit.
A branch is useless on its own, except to be burned. If not attached, it dies. When it is attached to the Vine, to God, it draws life from Him… it grows, it becomes stronger, and it bears good healthy fruit… it is truly fully alive!
In the ESV, Verse 1 Jesus says, “I am the True Vine”. My friend, nothing and no one else can offer this to us! Others may claim to have found ‘the way’ to live, to happiness, to prosperity, to health… but no one else has offered such a comprehensive promise to us! The promise of Eternal Life with God… only Jesus, only the True Vine!
Father, thank You for providing such amazing, clear, and profound Truth. We long, at our best, to be attached securely and eternally to Jesus, the True Vine. Keep us near Father, attached, drawing life, hope, strength, and health from the True Vine of Jesus our Lord.
