Blessings Await You

Today’s Encouragement is Luke 6:22 NLT What blessings await you when people hate you and exclude you and mock you and curse you as evil because you follow the Son of Man.

Blessings await you –

This headline looks good, doesn’t it?  Blessings? Yes, Please! Sign me up! 

But- read the rest of Jesus’ words… in essence – when you are hated and ridiculed because you follow Jesus!

Jesus then explains, v 23 “When that happens, be happy! Yes, leap for joy! For a great reward awaits you in heaven. And remember, their ancestors treated the ancient prophets that same way.”

Friend, we have a great reward waiting for us in eternity!  The more we follow Jesus, the more this world hates us… just as it hated Jesus during His earthly life… just as the world hated the prophets before Him. 

We often think when this hatred flares up, “Why me Lord? What have I done wrong to deserve this?” And the answer is “Absolutely nothing!” 

The world hates Jesus… and so it will hate us.  Yet, those chosen people, whom God is drawing to Himself… will not hate us!  Rather, they will be drawn to us, as we are drawn to Jesus!  As we Love Him and share His love with those around us… His Love draws His chosen ones to Himself. 

We don’t “do” anything except choose to Love Him and then His love will naturally overflow from us to His people. 

Father Grant us clear vision, that we may see from the eternal viewpoint, just how incredibly blessed we are when this world pours out its hatred for You onto us.  It is truly an honor and a privilege to be so identified with You!
