Today’s Encouragement is John 10:27 NLT My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.
They Follow Me –
Imagine you are a sheep (that takes a bit of imagination!). The Good Shepherd is your master, and you and I are just some of the sheep of His flock.
“My sheep know my voice.”
We hear the instructions he gives; we hear him call to us, and we follow Him closely, striving to be near Him. Because we are following Him – closely- and because He is Good in every way, we, who are close, are among the first to drink from the still waters, to lie down in green pastures, to rest beside Him.
Other sheep among the flock may wander off, becoming prey to the predators of the world. Still others follow half-heartedly not really following Him, but merely following the flock. These are looking, not to Him for direction, but looking at each other, and just mimicking the other sheep. These are misguided, following the pack, even following His flock (people in the church) but not truly following Him.
Father God, help us be among those who follow closely, and to accept no other guidance, to hear no other voice, and to look to no one other than our Good Shepherd, Jesus. Not any man, philosophy, or religion, help us to listen, and to follow, only Jesus.
