Today’s Encouragement is Mark 10:18 NLT “Why do you call me good?” Jesus asked. “Only God is truly good.”
Only God is truly Good –
Many years ago, I read a book titled, “Your God Too Small“ by JB Phillips. It was instrumental in exposing the lies that I had long believed about God. One was that God was a policeman, watching only me, for any violation of the law whether small or great, ready to slap the cuffs on me and punish me severely. Another misconception I had was that He was sitting in heaven on His Throne with a bucket of lightning bolts beside Him, to spear me anytime I messed up. Still another lie which I believed, was that He was too important to bother with me at all, not even aware of who I was or what I was doing.
My friend, God really wants us to know Him, that’s one reason that He sent Jesus to earth. We have the biblical record describing who Jesus was, what He did, and His amazing statements like ‘whoever has seen Me has seen the Father” (John 14:9)
The true nature of Almighty God, our Father, is perfectly reflected in the nature of Jesus Christ. God is Love! (1 John 4:8). He is Truly Good.
God help us to erase all the wrong perceptions, we may have of You. Help us to come to know how Truly Good you are, to examine our concept of You in light of Jesus. Help us to reevaluate what we know to be true about You according to Jesus. And Father, help us to accept Your Love, Grace, and Forgiveness.
