Today’s Encouragement is Philippians 1:6 ESV And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.
Began a good work –
When we are reborn as God’s beloved children, we begin our new spiritual lives. Just like newborn babies, we don’t know much, we are in a learning phase, learning to walk, speak, think, and use our skills and abilities.
The same is true of our spiritual rebirth and growth. And God is our loving Father who guides, teaches, and matures us as His dearly loved sons and daughters.
He is teacher, are we learning?
He is instructor, are we taking notes?
He is guide, are we following?
Friend, this concept isn’t taught much, yet the analogy is undeniable. The Bible is full of references to growth, producing fruit (which only comes from mature plants), learning, listening, and practicing what we believe.
We BEGIN our spiritual life at rebirth, at the point of salvation… and this is just the beginning!
God does this work of maturity within us, and we can either be for this – aware, available, accepting or we can be ignorant- unaware, reluctant, or even rebellious.
Father, help us, your sheep who desire to follow You and know You more, to accept the transformation that You bring into our lives. Help us to be aware, alert, and accepting of the wonderful work You are doing within us.
