Today’s Encouragement is Psalm 119:37 NLT Turn my eyes from worthless things, and give me life through your word.
Turn my eyes –
We know clearly that when we fix our eyes, and focus our attention on something, that’s where we go, it’s inevitable. We always have a choice, where we allow our eyes to focus, and inevitably our minds follow.
However, habits can/will become addictions and cause us to feel defeated, and we become unable to resist the pull of the powerful attraction of sin, worthless things, which we know is destructive.
The list of “worthless things” is endless, but that thing in your mind right now… that’s the worthless thing for you right now.
And rather than relying on our own strength and willpower to fight, to resist, the worthless thing, we can ask God for His help, we can ask the almighty all-powerful God! Reread today’s verse… this is a prayer asking God to “turn our eyes from worthless things”!
And God does – when we ask! And then, because we’ve asked Him, we are given Life through His Word. Jesus is the Word of God! By God’s grace and power, in His Strength… He can and will, – when we ask… Turn our “eyes from worthless things”, and give us life through His Son, Jesus.
Friend this is what we, as His dearly loved people, can ask of our loving Father… He longs to do this for us, in us; to transform us!
Lord God, You are so good to us. Thank You that You help Your children, when we ask, You turn our eyes away from worthless things and toward Life in You.
