Today’s Encouragement is 2 Timothy 1:12 That is why I am suffering here in prison. But I am not ashamed of it, for I know the one in whom I trust, and I am sure that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him until the day of his return.
For I Know –
Paul writes from prison to encourage Timothy and explains why he is there, and how he is responding to his suffering in prison. He wrote of what he was convinced of, His core beliefs, His confidence in Christ.
For I Know – The One in whom I trust, Jesus. Paul met him on the road to Damascus, but the resurrected Jesus, after his resurrection. This is the same Jesus we know and trust.
And I am sure – Paul states with confidence what he Knows to be true, his core beliefs.
What I have entrusted to Him – Further confidence that Jesus will guard Paul’s life, hope, faith, his entire being…
My friend, what is it that we KNOW with this same type of absolute certainty?
Can you name them? The beliefs which you KNOW are true, always, not only when you are feeling strong, but also, just as clearly KNOWN when you are weak?
We KNOW:
God is Good. His Love for us is immeasurable, demonstrated by Jesus’ sacrificial death. Jesus died in order to set us free and rose again to bring us Eternal Life. We are new creations in Christ, reborn, cleansed, forgiven. We are the sons and daughters of the Living God. And this list can go on and on of all the assurances we have, through faith, in Jesus our Lord.
Father, help us to recall what we do KNOW, those absolute truths that you have made real to each of us.
