Today’s Encouragement is Luke 11:1 NLT Once Jesus was in a certain place praying. As he finished, one of his disciples came to him and said, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.”
Teach us to pray –
In response to this request, Jesus taught what we call The Lord’s Prayer. But that wasn’t all he taught about prayer, he then added the parable which demonstrates the need for persistence in prayer (v5-8), next he added the thoughts on “ask, seek and knock” (v9-10), further emphasizing the diligent, persistence necessary in prayer, but he still didn’t end there, he concluded the teaching on prayer with an assurance of God’s kindness and faithfulness to us, (v11-13). Prayer is that important!
And Prayer is an essential element of our relationship with God. As His adopted chosen son or daughter, we are in a relationship with Him! He is our loving Father and is actively involved and interested in our lives, more so than we can imagine, because of His immeasurable Love for us.
But, unlike an earthly Father, we never grow to become independent from Him. Spiritually there is no ‘leaving home’ necessary or desirable… because we always remain fully dependent upon Him!
And prayer is the primary means of our communication with Him.
Thank You Father God that You always hear us. You know exactly what is best for us and You are happy to provide it for us… because You love us! Help us to communicate with You in Prayer always.
