Today’s Encouragement is Psalm 107:43 NLT Those who are wise will take all this to heart; they will see in our history the faithful love of the LORD.
Take all this to heart –
The history provided for us in the Bible is specific to God’s interaction with His people. It doesn’t purport to cover all of mankind, nor all nations, nor all events, rather it is the selected events of a particular people, and most importantly, God’s interactions with them.
This psalm, in brief, describes God’s steadfast love and rescue for His people in various situations, in hunger and thirst (v5), in prison or darkness (v6), at death’s door (v18), in terror (v26), at their wits end (v27), and in each crisis… Four times in this Psalm, (v6, 13, 19, and 28) “’LORD, help!’ they cried in their trouble, and he rescued them from their distress.”
What trouble are you dealing with my friend? Is it illness, addiction, doubt, fear, depression, despair…?
Name that trouble now.
Take all this to heart… all the faithful love and the rescue which God has provided in the history of His people.
And simply… cry out… “Lord, help!”
Father, help us to be wise, to take all the biblical history to heart, to remember Your faithful, steadfast love for Your people… and to cry out to Jesus, in faith, trusting in You alone to rescue us, set us free, and then Father, help us to live – fully aware – of Your unfailing love.
Cry Out to Jesus
