Today’s Encouragement is Luke 2:19 NLT but Mary kept all these things in her heart and thought about them often.
Kept all these things-
Twice in this chapter these words appear, here she ‘kept in her heart’ the amazing story of the shepherds who came to see the newborn king Jesus, telling of the great choir of angels singing “Glory to God” in the fields for them alone…. And also, she ‘kept in her heart’ the words of twelve-year-old Jesus in verse 51, “Didn’t You know that I must be in my Father’s house?” These memories, she kept, treasured, held on to, in her heart.
These are just two examples of the beautiful, significant, amazing memories which Mary kept “in her heart,” stored away, committed to her memory, and recalled often.
Friend, What are you keeping in your heart, storing in your heart and memories?
We get to decide! We all have good memories and terrible, painful ones… which ones are kept in our heart?
Is it possible that the choices we make – which memories, thoughts, experiences, relationships… which we “keep” in our hearts… have incredible power to direct our outlook on life?
Father God, please help us to consider what it is we have decided to keep in our hearts. Help us to reevaluate our memories, discarding all the pain and hurt of the past, and instead retaining every promise of Your Word, every time You have touched our lives, every good and perfect gift that You’ve given us! May we too, keep all these things – all the blessings we have in Christ – in our hearts!
Every promise of You Word
