With Gladness

Today’s Encouragement is Psalm 100:2 AMP Serve the LORD with gladness and delight; Come before His presence with joyful singing.

With Gladness –

I confess… I often serve with duty, and sometimes with reluctance… I know it is best that I serve Him gladly, in whatever form that may be at the time, but I’m too often not very glad about it!

This is a message for me.  I need to serve Him gladly, gratefully, even joyfully… I certainly want to!  So, what is it – what is the barrier or obstacle between my resigned reluctance and joyful exuberance?

It’s probably Self.  Most (isn’t all?) of our sin is self-oriented.  “I want this, this feels good, I’m not appreciated; me – me – me, I-I-I”!

Yet His Word says… “serve Him with gladness and delight!”

My mind, heart, and spirit are, and must be under His direction and control, in order for me to be free to serve Him with gladness and joy!

That is, I can make the decision, choosing to put Him above myself, serving Him before self or others…

And then my friend, serving Him with gladness, even with joy, is not only possible, it is natural, unavoidable, unshakable.

And this is true worship!

Father, please help us to worship and serve You, in spirit and truth, with joy, gladness, and gratitude for Who You Are and for all You have done! We pray in Jesus Name.

The Joy of the Lord
