Today’s Encouragement is Revelation 3:7b-8a NLT “This is the message from [Jesus] the one who is holy and true, the one who has the key of David. What he opens, no one can close; and what he closes, no one can open: I know all the things you do, and I have opened a door for you that no one can close.”
Opened a door –
God directs us. Some but not all, of the circumstances of our lives are directed by Him, but I do not believe that He causes pain and tragedy in our lives to teach us a lesson. A loving Father doesn’t burn his child’s hand to teach it that fire is dangerous. But he might allow the child to get too close to the fire so it can experience the heat and learn.
God doesn’t cause us to run into closed doors of pain and suffering… but as He said, In this world you WILL have trials and sorrows… (John 16:33). Rather than causing this, He works – in all these things – for our good (Romans 8:28)! In every situation and circumstance, even at times in minute detail… He works! Including opening and closing doors, to show us the way… as today’s verse makes clear.
This is only possible, God working in and through the details of our lives, because He is all powerful-Omnipotent! He truly can do whatever He chooses… including guide you through this life, as you are willing, and as you are seeking His way.
Father, give us eyes to see the open and closed doors You have placed before us. And grant us courage to walk through those open doors and to walk past the closed ones.
