How much do you have

Today’s Encouragement is Mark 8:4-5 NLT His disciples replied, “How are we supposed to find enough food to feed them out here in the wilderness?” Jesus asked, “How much bread do you have?” “Seven loaves,” they replied.

How much do you have –

The disciples we’re looking at the stark reality of their situation, they were realists, pragmatic, and logical. It would take tons of food to feed these folks.

Jesus asked a simple but powerful question, perhaps it was like… “But how much DO you have?” He asked them to look at what the already had, rather than fearing the huge challenge they faced.

My friend, today God would ask us this same question… “What do you already have?”

Are you facing illness, pain and suffering today?  What do you have? Do you have life, maybe a friend who calls, a doctor, some medication, some pain relievers, a hope for healing… do you have assurance of your ultimate salvation through Jesus and His healing in eternity?

Are you despairing, frustrated, doubting?  What do you have? Jesus said we only need a tiny mustard seed of faith, and we can do great things… Do you have a tiny bit of faith? Do you have a tiny glimpse of hope?  Can you envision life beyond the struggle you are facing right now?

God asks us for everything we have… remember the poor widow who gave two pennies to God?  Jesus said she’d given more than all the rest… she gave everything.

And when we give God everything… including our problems, fears, doubts, addictions, anger, as well as our hopes, the people we love, our money, time, and energy… He makes it MORE than enough… More than we ever imagined possible…

Mark 8:8 (NLT) They ate as much as they wanted. Afterward, the disciples picked up seven large baskets of leftover food.

Father God, we give you all we have.  We trust that You will bless us with more than enough!
