Today’s Encouragement is Psalm 27:4 ESV One thing have I asked of the LORD, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to inquire in his temple.
All the days of my life –
Imagine with me, David’s mindset as he wrote this song. Was he exaggerating? Taking poetic license? Or is it possible that he was very seriously proclaiming His sincere desire (one thing I ask) to be, to dwell, to ever live, in God’s presence; to gaze upon and inquire of God … all the days of his life?
We might be too quick to relegate such worship to our eternal life… to think, “Yeah, when my life is over and I’m in heaven, and have nothing else to do… then I’ll worship Him.” Ouch!!!
Consider, my friend, that the opportunity to worship Him, is now! All the days of our life… this Life. Of our own free will… we can come before Him (anytime, anywhere) and Worship Him… gaze upon His beauty with spiritual sight, and to inquire, to seek Him, desire to know Him more and more.
Only in this life do we have such an opportunity to desire Him in this way! In the next life, such worship will be automatic, universal.
Father God, grant us the blessing of desiring You, longing to worship in Your presence and to know You more. You created us for this Lord… help us to fulfill our purpose, all the days of our lives.
