Today’s Encouragement is John 14:26 NLT But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative-that is, the Holy Spirit-he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.
Will Remind You –
Do you know the multiplication table? Chances are you do… because you memorized it as a child. Do you know The Lord’s Prayer, John 3:16, maybe Psalm 23? Most likely yes… because you memorized it. My point? We know these things – because we have committed them to our memory.
In the same way, God’s promises, His truths, become truly known, they become a part of who we are… when – we commit these Truths to memory!
Sometimes folks make fun of the repetition of modern praise and worship music, but this repetition is emphasizing the truth of the message, and also committing this message to our memory.
Repeatedly, throughout the Gospel, the authors quote scripture, even Jesus often did so! Because they knew it, had memorized it, and when they needed it, the Holy Spirit brought it to their minds.
Father, memory was Your idea; You created it. Help us to remember, to fill our memory with Your Truth, that Your Holy Spirit may bring Your Truth, your promises to our minds, at just the right time.
