Today’s Encouragement is Luke 13:20-21 NLT He [Jesus] also asked, “What else is the Kingdom of God like? It is like the yeast a woman used in making bread. Even though she put only a little yeast in three measures of flour, it permeated every part of the dough.’
Permeated Every Part –
Strangely, in Matt. 16:11, Jesus used yeast as an example of the lies, the false and deceptive teaching of the religious leaders of the time. And Yeast is also used as a positive example of the Kingdom of God in today’s verse.
That’s how yeast works… it permeates every part. Whether it is the destructive yeast of religious rules or the world’s lies, or the divine yeast of the Truth of the Gospel of Jesus.
My friends, which type of ‘yeast’ are you allowing into your life? Is it the world’s lies? Or God’s Truth?
By reading, hearing, listening, receiving, accepting, believing, and trusting the Truth which God has given us… we are transformed! Just as yeast transforms the dough, until all of our life is filled with the Truth of Jesus Christ. And notice please, the dough (you and me) simply Rests, while the yeast of God’s Truth does its work in us.
Sadly, there are many who allow the lies of the world, even the religious lies, (and they are many, just take your pick) to permeate their lives, and so – these become fully deceived…
The choice is ours, daily, to turn to God in Faith, accepting His Truth, allowing it to transform us, or to turn away from Him and to the world and its destructive transformation.
Father God, help us to be permeated by the yeast of Your Truth so that we rest in You and become entirely Yours. We ask in Jesus’ Name.
