Today’s Encouragement is Acts 4:13 NLT The members of the council were amazed when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, for they could see that they were ordinary men with no special training in the Scriptures. They also recognized them as men who had been with Jesus.
Had been with Jesus –
These disciples were carrying out the instructions of Jesus to take the Good News of salvation throughout the world. Notice that they were ordinary… nothing special really about the twelve disciples… except… ‘they had been with Jesus’!
Friends we are all ordinary! We all are flawed, fumbling, frail humans who flounder through this life the best we can. The difference between the disciples and everyone else of their day? They had been with Jesus!
Today, we are privileged to be with Jesus also, not physically but more importantly spiritually! Jesus said, in his final prayer for us, John 17:26 NLT “I have revealed you to them, and I will continue to do so. Then your love for me will be in them, and I will be in them.”
He is IN us! His Love is IN us! Not someday, not if we are good enough, not if we are perfect Christians… but because Jesus has revealed God to us!
Friends, just like the disciples who ‘had been with Jesus’, Jesus is IN us. Ordinary people… filled with the Spirit of God!
Father God, we realize that we are nobody without You. Help us understand that you have already filled us with Your Spirit so that we can be Your ambassadors to this world.
