Came To His Senses

Today’s Encouragement is Luke 15:17 NLT When he finally came to his senses, he said to himself, ‘At home even the hired servants have food enough to spare, and here I am dying of hunger!’

Came to his senses –

In the parable of the prodigal son in Luke 15:11-32, notice that no one came to the son to intervene, no one preached to him, or put him into rehab, or in any way ‘interfered’ with him… rather he ‘came to his senses.’ Only God can do that!

And he ‘said to himself’! – I gotta make a change!!!

Only God, my friends, can cause our human hearts to wake up to Truth, to reality.  And when He does, we have the choice to surrender to Him and follow His Truth or – to continue our own way.

And when we do return to Him, Our Father Rejoices!  Luke 15:32a (NLT) “We had to celebrate this happy day.”

This is the reason we turn to God’s Truth each day… because we can (do!) get off track so easily!  We wander, we begin to doubt, we fall into sin, sometimes we intentionally dive into sin, and sometimes it’s a gradual slide that we hardly notice.  But at some point, by God’s Grace, we ‘come to our senses’ and realize we are, once again, in a mess! And we then return to Him… every single time… and Our Father Rejoices!

Father, we cannot thank You enough for Your Grace!  First You cause us to be drawn to You, to come to our senses, and turn, and return to You.  And we sing to You, I’ve been Redeemed!  Thank you, Father God, for your amazing Love and Grace!
