Today’s Encouragement is Psalm 91:1 ESV He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
In the Shelter –
Picture God’s umbrella. (I know, it seems kinda dumb, but it’s close!). When we are close to Him, doing His will, listening and just being with Him, we’re under that protective umbrella (the shelter, the shadow of His wings)… when we wander off, start being concerned with other things, even seemingly ‘good’ things, we step out from under that umbrella of His protection (by our own choice) and then begin to suffer the rain and hail and hot sun of this life…
Yet we can always ‘run to the Father… again and again and again!’ And so, return to His Shelter- (umbrella) of protection by returning to Him.
Now, we may sometimes mistake our suffering as being God’s punishment… But it is not His nature to punish! Rather, we suffer the consequences of our wandering, when we choose to leave the safety and peace of our home with Him, in His Shelter!
Father God, help us to always remain in Your Presence, in close relationship with You, and when we inevitably fail, wander away, help us to run back to You.
Run to the Father
