He Leads Me

Today’s Encouragement is Psalm 23:1-3 ESV The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

He leads me –

We all know this precious psalm well; many can even quote all of it from memory.

And it is beautiful, comforting, reassuring, and encouraging!

More of God’s wonderful promises to His people.

Friends, we often pick and choose the scriptures ‘we like’ and then overlook, even ignore, those which ‘we don’t like’!  We’re human. We want the happiness, peace, and joy that some scripture promises, but then say ‘no thanks’ to the other, especially those that speak of troubles, trials, testing, and especially distasteful suffering!

But consider, it is the entirety of His Word which He has given us.  Just like the record of Jesus’ earthly life, our lives here will also include times of rejection, suffering and pain, as well as times of sweet peace, contentment, and blessing.

Is it possible that we are wise to accept, even embrace the scriptures of suffering, trials, and troubles, just as readily and faithfully as we do those which promise us peace and comfort?  We can do so – when we recognize, whether it is through green pastures, or through hot and arid deserts… He Leads Us…

Father God, You lead us, as You alone choose, for You know best, and You are Sovereign.  Help us to have the same depth of faith in Your guiding hand when we are in our times of trouble and in our times of blessing.

The Unseen Hand
