Today’s Encouragement is 2 Peter 1:4 NLT And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share His divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires.
Promises That Enable You –
We know that God made wonderful, ‘great, and precious’ promises to His people throughout the record of time in the Bible –
Promises such as:
God gave us eternal life through Jesus, John 3:16
In all things, God works for our good, Romans 8:28
We can do all things through Christ, Phil. 4:13
He has removed our sin, Ps. 103:12
He will never leave us nor forsake us, Heb. 13:5
And so many more!
His promises to His dearly loved people are far too many to count!!!
But this was ‘news to me’! These promises enable us…!
To “share his divine nature”
Because of God’s promises- we share in His divine nature! The Spirit of God lives within us! We have eternal life! We are completely purified from all sin! This is sharing in His divine nature!
And to “escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires.”
At first glance, this seems impossible! But God! Because of His promises, He has cleansed us, through Jesus, from all human corruption, the filth of this world, of our own sin, which is removed perfectly and completely, and we escape the corruption of this world because we are not under the control of this world, instead… we are pure, holy, clean and under the control and power of God our Father!
Lord, what can we say but Thank You – for Jesus, for Your Word, for Your Promises, for Your Perfect Love!
