Today’s Encouragement is 1 John 1:7 NLT But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.
Living in the Light –
The Truth of God’s Word is always “yes” or “no”; black or white. We want to add some gray areas… (we so prefer the gray…)
But God’s Truth is clear, decisive, and unwavering.
In this passage, we learn the results of “living in the Light”.
As believers, we truly desire to live in His light, but how to do so? How can we know?
It’s answered in verse 9, “But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.”
So:
We either live in His Light, or we are in darkness. (Sorry, there is no gray)
We live in His Light by confessing our sin to Him (not necessarily to anyone else) so that His forgiveness and cleansing become ours.
When we claim, ‘to have no sin’ (v8), or pretend our sin isn’t really sin (as is so popular today), or if we choose to not admit or confess, or if we try to live in any other way… we are …in darkness.
The encouragement is this, my friends, by accepting His Truth and confessing our sin to Him, we become forgiven, and we are walking, living, in His Perfect Light! Forgiven and Cleansed … always and forever!!
Father, Thank You for the clarity of Your Truth. We may not understand all of Your Truth, but that which we do understand, we choose to accept, embrace, and follow. Help us to live always within Your Truth, in Your Light.
