Today’s Encouragement is 1 Samuel 16:7 NLT But the LORD said to Samuel, “Don’t judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The LORD doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”
Looks at the Heart –
The first king of Israel was Saul, he stood head and shoulders above all of the people. Yet, he failed to honor and obey God and was ultimately rejected by God as the king, long before he ceased to reign.
David however, although he was handsome, had no unusual height, no external evidence of potential greatness, yet God ‘looks at the heart’, and knew his character.
This man became known as a ‘man after God’s own heart’.
Friends, we still today judge by outward appearances. Yet, God’s wisdom considers our hearts. He knows the character of each person! Just as He knows the number of hairs on our heads! He knows us! The deepest truth of our character is no mystery to Him, although it almost always is to us!
And in His perfect knowledge, He chose you, selected you from the mass of humanity, lovingly plucked you from the teeming crowd, and set you apart with the words, ‘This one is Mine!’
God selected you and me and drew us to Jesus. John 6:44a (NLT) [Jesus said,] “For no one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them to me.”
Father God, thank you for knowing us, and still selecting and adopting us as Your own deeply loved people. Even though You know everything about us.
He Knows
