Today’s Encouragement is Hebrews 8:12 NLT And I will forgive their wickedness, and I will never again remember their sins.
Never Again –
Wouldn’t it be nice to have an eraser? For our past sins, mistakes, and failures… A selective ‘mental eraser’ to remove our unpleasant memories.
I was recently looking at some old family photos and was surprised that I didn’t remember many of the events from decades ago. Those were happy times, that I would very much prefer to recall compared to many unhappy times which are sometimes all too fresh in my memory.
This verse tells us that God has a selective memory. (trying to use human terms to describe Him, which is impossible…) in that, in His beautiful Mercy, He chooses to extend forgiveness to us, and He even chooses to forget our sins, because we belong to Jesus!
Is it possible my friends, that, just as God chooses to forget the negative aspects of our lives, our past and yes, our future., we can also, by His Grace, let go of, forget, erase… our ‘wickedness’, shame, guilt, the harm done to us by others, and even the harm we did to others… All Erased! Forgotten, Forgiven!
Father, we thank You for Your complete forgiveness, never again remembering, erasing even the evidence and results of our sin. Your Mercy is overwhelming! Help us to also, in the same manner, be cleansed of all the memories of our sin and the harm done to us… That we might live in true freedom, true rebirth, and as new creations in Christ. We pray in Jesus’ Name.
