Today’s Encouragement is 2 Timothy 1:6 NLT This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you when I laid my hands on you.
Fan Into Flames –
Friends, our relationship with God is mutual. It is also one-sided, that is, He is the giver of every good and perfect gift (Jas. 1:17), and We cannot adequately reciprocate… Except to give Him all… Our entire existence… Our hearts, minds, and souls; Our lives.
Yet, like in marriage, as God often describes our relationship with Him… We each give 100%. We each have responsibility.
In God’s kingdom, His perspective, we are given His immeasurable love and amazing spiritual gifts! All this in addition to Living Water and Daily Bread! All that we need and immensely more!!!
And our appropriate response to such Grace, Mercy, and Love? First gratitude, a heart that is intensely aware of God’s kindnesses, and also, a responsible acceptance… To fan into flames the embers of the gifts He has (already/now) provided us! To use/be responsible with these gifts.
As if we are given seed to plant. If we simply place this seed on a shelf and then ignore it, or even if we express thanks for it each day… It remains ours, but it is unfruitful! So it is with the gifts God has given to us… It is our privilege and serious responsibility, to use these gifts, to plant the seed, to fan into flames, because… God has a purpose in the gifts He has given each of us…
God initiates; we respond.
Father God, open our spiritual eyes and minds to understand all that You have given us, help us understand that You have a purpose in what You have given, and then Lord, help us to Fan it into Flames, for Your Honor and Glory!
