Today’s Encouragement is 1 Timothy 6:6-8 NLT Yet true godliness with contentment is itself great wealth. [7] After all, we brought nothing with us when we came into the world, and we can’t take anything with us when we leave it. [8] So if we have enough food and clothing, let us be content.
Let Us Be Content –
Read this last verse again, “If you have food and clothing…”
Is it possible that Discontentment is a source of many problems for us? It can drive us to:
Job hopping
Church hopping
Overwork
Sleeplessness
Greed
Jealousy
Marital unfaithfulness
…An endless list of misery!
Also, we have all known a ‘driven’ person… There seems to be an unrecognized fire within them that constantly and relentlessly drives them toward their concept of success. And often we praise these people as dedicated, brilliant, and great! Yet, they are seldom described as content.
I suggest to you my friends, that only (v6) ‘godliness with contentment is great wealth.” No amount of fame, accomplishment, recognition, or money can ever provide us with contentment.
This is found only – in gratitude to God for what He has already/now provided you.
Father, we acknowledge our propensity to always be after ‘more’… Please help us to realize that what you have already, now provided for us is Enough! Help us to choose to be content.
Thank You, Lord
