Today’s Encouragement is 2 Thessalonians 3:16 NLT “Now may the Lord of peace himself give you his peace at all times and in every situation. The Lord be with you all.”
His Peace –
During the time of Moses, God told the high priest Aaron to speak this blessing – Numbers 6:23-26 NLT “Tell Aaron and his sons to bless the people of Israel with this special blessing: ‘May the LORD bless you and protect you. May the LORD smile on you and be gracious to you. May the LORD show you his favor and give you his peace.’
And now my friends, Jesus has, already, given us this gift of God’s peace! John 14:27 NLT “I am leaving you with a gift-peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.”
Was Jesus lying? Was He saying, “If you’re a really good Christian, if you pray really hard and you earn it… Then maybe, I will give you some measure of peace”?
No! He has already, now given us His Peace! It’s His gift to us; ours to accept or reject.
A gift is offered to another, it isn’t forced on us, it is extended, made available. It is now ours, and it is our decision to use or ignore it, to place it on a shelf and tell others ‘Look at the wonderful gift I was given…’ Or to embrace it, live in and with this gift of Peace… Our choice. It belongs to us, to use or ignore.
Father God, help us to enjoy the Perfect Peace You have given to us. Peace with You first, and also peace within our own hearts and minds.
