Today’s Encouragement is 1 Thessalonians 1:2 ESV We give thanks to God always for all of you, constantly mentioning you in our prayers,
We Give Thanks-
We! The book begins… 1 Thessalonians 1:1 – “Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy, to the church of the Thessalonians in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ:”
These three brothers wrote this letter, and in v2, state that WE (together) give thanks, doing so – Always, Constantly, in ‘Our’ Prayers! Together!
Have you ever prayed with another believer? I’m referring to the experience of physically being together, as equals, people of God, without rank or title, kneeling together before Him and pouring out your hearts in prayer… and as these men did… thanking Him for and praying for other believers! Together.
It is different, I promise you, to pray WITH (beside, equally,) another believer… this is not praying For (as opposed to WITH) them… nor is it you saying the prayer on their behalf, or them praying for you… rather it is ‘Praying With’.
We are all His beloved children. He wants to hear each of us pray to Him. While it’s beautiful to pray for each other, don’t allow the idea that one person’s prayer carries more ‘weight’ than another. This is not biblical. The pastor, priest, or older brother or sister… these are not ’above you’ in rank nor in importance to God. We can each come individually in prayer, but also together, before Him, anytime, always, constantly praying.
Is it possible that – when two or more are gathered in His Name, in Prayer, praying out loud in confidence and faith… it is that moment… when God’s perfect heart – of immeasurable Love
– is touched
– most deeply?
Father, please help us to pray in faith, alone but also together, always, constantly… in full faith… Please reassure us that You enjoy hearing us come to You in prayer.
Lord I need You
