Today’s Encouragement is Philippians 1:12-13 NLT “And I want you to know, my dear brothers and sisters, that everything that has happened to me here has helped to spread the Good News. [13] For everyone here, including the whole palace guard, knows that I am in chains because of Christ.”
Because of Christ –
In chains! Because of Christ! Wait a minute! Aren’t we supposed to be blessed, happy, wealthy, and wise because we’re Christians, because of Christ? When did chains and imprisonment become part of our ‘blessed existence’ as children of God? Well, since the beginning my friends.
Paul is writing to the early church in Philippi. One of many such letters that he wrote. It is because of Christ – because he was in prison – because he couldn’t travel or preach to the masses – that he wrote! And what he wrote, became almost 2/3 of our New Testament!
So, did God have Paul thrown into prison so he could write so much? Or did God instead use Paul’s imprisonment time for good? A favorite ‘life verse’ for me is Romans 8:28 NLT “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”
God causes everything to work together for our good! Paul had been faithfully preaching the gospel, which lead to his imprisonment, and then his chains served to ‘help to spread the Good News’! For all believers, for centuries!
Can God use you in your current circumstances, with your current, perhaps overwhelming limitations… for Your Good, and for His Kingdom?
Pretty sure He can, and He will. Just ask!
Father, please help us have faith that You will use all things, even the troubles we face, for our good, for Your good purposes!
