The Lord will Fight For You

Today’s Encouragement is Exodus 14:14 ESV “The LORD will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.”

The Lord will fight for you –

What a wonderful thought!  I was never much of a fighter, in any sense.  I got beat up in 8th grade due to my own smart mouth. Decided that I really didn’t have a need to try that again!  And the same with arguments and other battles… I’ve just never been ‘into’ fighting.

Others are born fighters! Verbally or physically, they are fighting all the time.  Some fight emotional battles, addictions, fears, or even for sanity.  There are battles all around us, at all times. 

So, this verse is very comforting to me!  I’d much prefer that God fight my battles!  The possibility of success is so much higher!

And He does, there are many stories in His Word to us that tell of God’s power fighting literal and other types of battles for us.  Sometimes He is our strength and courage as we go into the battle, only to find an easily defeated enemy (David vs Goliath 1 Sam 17:49). Other times he fights our enemies before we go into battle, and we never have to lift a hand (enemy army destroyed by the angel of the Lord 2 Kings 19:32-35).  

Our greatest battle is with Fear. And repeatedly our God says, when we are with Him, we do not need to fear anything! For us, we just need to remember that He IS WITH us!  Our part is to Trust Him, and be silent, and allow Him to fight for us!    

Father, help us to trust that You are With us always, and You are For us; you even Fight our every battle… For us!  You’re such a wonderful Father!
