Today’s Encouragement is John 4:34 ESV Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to accomplish his work.
My Food –
Jesus says it is His food – to Do the will of God. (The NLT reads ‘my nourishment’.)
Jesus needed food! And the food He needed is the same as we need. We are fed, strengthened, and nourished when we DO His will, offering ourselves, laying down our lives…
He had just been talking with a Samaritan woman, the worst type of person possible to his people, offering her the living water of eternal life… (v 10).
We often think that we are ‘fed’ when we read or hear His word. And that is true, hearing Him does feed our souls! But our food, our nourishment, is not only from reading, not only from hearing, but also it is Doing God’s Will! (v 34 & Jas 1:22)
Remember that when we Do God’s will, we are blessed. First, we are saved by His Grace, through Faith. Then as we Do His will and live out the Good News of Jesus… then we are Blessed! James 1:25b NLT – “and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.” (For Doing it!)
Want to be blessed? Want to be nourished by God’s hand?
Then Do His Will. John 15:12 NLT “This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you.”
Father God Help us today to Do Your will. To Love each other as You have (already and continuously) loved us, and so, to receive Your blessing and nourishment!
