Today’s Encouragement is Psalm 146:3-5 NLT Don’t put your confidence in powerful people; there is no help for you there. [4] When they breathe their last, they return to the earth, and all their plans die with them. [5] But joyful are those who have the God of Israel as their helper, whose hope is in the LORD their God.
No help for you there –
Powerful people – don’t put your confidence in them. We too often do! We believers often focus on one friend, or a preacher, leader, or politician as being the wisest person, one with all the answers. We are placing our confidence and hope in a person, and David says ‘Don’t!’
My friends, every human will, at some time, disappoint us! Everyone! They all die and so do their plans…There is ‘No Help’ for us in other people, no matter how great or wise or powerful they may seem.
But for you and me, as believers in Jesus, we place our confidence and our hope in Christ alone. ‘God is our helper; He is our Hope… and so… we can be full of joy’(v5)!
Almighty God, help us to continually return to You as our Help, our Hope, and so to experience this joy; the joy of resting and trusting in You alone.
