Today’s Encouragement is Romans 6:6 NLT We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin.
No longer slaves –
This is Truth. Our sinful nature has been crucified with Christ. I admit that I don’t understand all that might mean, but if it’s crucified… it is dead… Your Sinful Nature, and mine… are DEAD! 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NLT) 17 This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! Hear that Truth, my friends, Our OLD life is Gone; our NEW life has begun.
So how do we reconcile God’s Truth with our daily lives, struggles, and realities? One has to win… either God’s Truth or our daily reality… what we see, encounter, and believe. We each are given the power, by God’s grace… to decide what we believe. We walk by sight… or we walk by faith. Sight is what we see, touch, feel, and experience, the things we believe based on our past, what others have told us; decisions we have made based on our own understanding. Faith is a decision to trust what God has said and in His Truth over everything else (all our experiences and beliefs).
Chico Marx said, “Who are you going to believe, me or your lying eyes?” Well, it’s true that our eyes can deceive us, appearance can be deceiving. We can draw wrong conclusions. A child told by parents that they are worthless comes to believe it. It’s wrong and untrue, but it is all that child knows. We all are prone to believe things that are untrue. God’s Word is Truth. And He says… You are no longer slaves to sin.
Thank You Father God, for Your Truth, for the Freedom from Slavery to Sin which You have provided for us through Christ.
No Longer Slaves
