Find Me

Today’s Encouragement is Psalm 119:176 NLT ”I have wandered away like a lost sheep; come and find me, for I have not forgotten your commands.”

Find me –

These words of David – the writer of Psalms, the great warrior and King of Israel, slayer of Goliath, the ‘man after God’s own heart’… conclude the longest Psalm, 119, which he wrote to honor the Word of the Lord.

And here at the end of his song of praise, this great man of God confesses “I have wandered away like a lost sheep.”  Seems odd, rather than ending the song in a pinnacle of glory to the Lord, he ends with…. ‘Save me Lord, from myself!’

Even the great King David recognized his need for God’s saving grace!  Crying out for help, recognizing his need, that his heart is ‘prone to wandering’, he asks for what he knows that – he doesn’t deserve.

‘Come and Find Me!  Rescue me from my own wandering! Like a dumb sheep I have wandered from the flock, from Your care and Your presence. I cannot find my own way back; I need You Lord, to come – find me!’

Friends, God is loving and merciful, He knows we are like sheep who wander away from His protective presence… and He lovingly comes in search of His own.  Though we wander… He searches.

Thank You Father God, that You understand us, our wandering, our unfaithfulness, and You still come to find us and bring us to Your presence.
